    Forensic Psychologist (Medico-Legal Assessments)

Remote (Ireland or UK)€920 per completed assessmentPosted Just posted

    About the Role

A specialist Ireland-focused legal assessment service that coordinates independent forensic and medico-legal psychological assessments for solicitors. The service sits between the instructing solicitor and the assessing psychologist, handling case intake, expert matching, scheduling, Legal Aid sanction documentation, invoicing and post-assessment client coordination. The instructing solicitor remains the legally responsible party throughout.

The service is actively expanding its panel of forensic psychologists to meet sustained demand. There is already a strong volume of cases ready to be allocated, with ongoing referral flow. Because of how the Irish courts operate, and the way forensic reports are accepted by the Irish legal system, this work is open to HCPC-registered psychologists based in the UK as well as PSI-Chartered psychologists in Ireland. UK-based clinicians can take on Irish solicitor instructions remotely without relocating or holding additional Irish registration.

This is a sessional role for clinicians who already do forensic, clinical or medico-legal assessment work and want to add a steady stream of additional case volume alongside their existing practice. The administrative burden, instructing-solicitor liaison, scheduling, invoicing and Legal Aid sanction documentation, is handled by the coordination service. The clinical work is yours: assessment, formulation, report and, where required, availability for cross-examination or case conferences.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct solicitor-referred psychological assessments, typically including personal injury, PTSD, psychological prognosis and forensic or mental state evaluations
    • Use validated psychometric instruments and structured professional judgement tools appropriate to the legal question
    • Produce clear, court-ready reports with opinion distinguished from evidence and limitations acknowledged
    • Report findings impartially regardless of the instructing party, the duty is to the court
    • Be available for oral evidence at court and for case conferences where required
    • Deliver all assessment work remotely via secure video, attending in person only for court where directed

    Requirements

    • PSI Chartered Psychologist (Ireland) OR HCPC-registered Psychologist (UK); Forensic Division credentialing preferred
    • Demonstrable experience in forensic, clinical or medico-legal assessment and report writing
    • Comfortable with the validated psychometric and structured-judgement toolkit standard in forensic psychology
    • Thorough, court-ready report writing that holds up across the Irish court hierarchy
    • Comfortable presenting findings impartially, including findings that may not favour the instructing solicitor
    • Comfortable operating as an independent sessional clinician within a coordination-service model
    • Professional indemnity insurance, verified at onboarding

    Benefits

    • €920 per completed assessment
    • Strong volume of cases ready to be allocated, not a slow pipeline build
    • Sustained ongoing referrals from solicitors across Ireland
    • Fully remote, work from anywhere in Ireland or the UK
    • HCPC-registered UK psychologists explicitly welcome
    • Intake, scheduling, solicitor liaison, invoicing and Legal Aid documentation handled in-house
    • Structured to complement existing practice, no exclusivity, no minimum case load
