    Psychologist (Sessional Assessor)

Westmeath, Ireland€500-€1,850 per assessment (DOE)Posted Just posted

    About the Role

A new specialist Westmeath-based clinic providing private neurodevelopmental and educational assessment services for children, adolescents and adults. The service is set up to address the structural gap between HSE assessment-of-need waitlists (commonly two to five years) and the urgent practical need for diagnostic clarity to access school supports, third-level accommodations, workplace adjustments and onward pathways.

The service is built around a panel of PSI Chartered, HSE-validated psychologists working sessionally, with the in-house team handling intake, scheduling, payment, report templating support and post-assessment client coordination. The intent is to let clinicians focus on the clinical work.

You'll work a flexible diary you set yourself, conducting cognitive/educational, ASD, ADHD and combined neurodevelopmental assessments in the Westmeath clinic. Reports must hold up at HSE, Department of Education, third-level disability service and workplace accommodation level. Per-assessment fees range from €550 for a psycho-educational assessment up to €1,850 for a combined AuDHD assessment, and can be discussed based on experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct psycho-educational and cognitive / adaptive assessments for children, adolescents and adults
    • Carry out structured ASD diagnostic assessment (ADI-R and ADOS), integrated with cognitive components where indicated
    • Carry out structured ADHD assessment using DKEFS, validated screeners and diagnostic interview
    • Deliver the specialist combined AuDHD pathway using Conners, BRIEF, Young DIVA and the full toolkit
    • Produce comprehensive, neuro-affirming reports that hold up at HSE, Department of Education and workplace level
    • Deliver clear, accessible feedback sessions with concrete next-step recommendations
    • Set your own working hours and case volume around your availability

    Requirements

    • PSI Chartered and HSE Validated, both verified at offer stage (Counselling, Clinical or Educational branch)
    • Demonstrable experience conducting neurodevelopmental assessments (ASD, ADHD or both)
    • Proficiency with ADI-R, ADOS, DKEFS, Conners, BRIEF, Young DIVA / DIVA-5 or close equivalents
    • Comfortable working across children, adolescents and adults, or focused on one cohort
    • Thorough, clear report writing structured to hold up at HSE and Department of Education level
    • Comfortable managing your own caseload within a sessional, flexible-diary structure
    • Personal professional indemnity insurance required

    Benefits

    • Sessional per-assessment fees of €500-€1,850, negotiable with experience
    • Fully flexible diary, no minimum or maximum caseload
    • Clinic-based working, no need to provide your own space or equipment
    • Intake, scheduling, payment and correspondence handled by the in-house team
    • Steady, predictable referral volume driven by the HSE backlog
    • Reports positioned for HSE, Department of Education and workplace acceptance
    • Independent professional status that sits alongside HSE, CDNT, CAMHS or private work
