Occupational Therapist (Paediatric & Adolescent Interventions)

Balbriggan, Co. DublinHSE OT scale + 5% (DOE)Posted Just posted

    About the Role

Our client, a children's therapy service in Balbriggan, is hiring an Occupational Therapist to deliver hands-on intervention to children and adolescents. This is a clinic-based, treatment-focused post: you pick up the client after a senior colleague has completed a full OT assessment, and you carry the therapy programme through.

The deliberate split between assessment and intervention means you spend the majority of your time doing direct, goal-led therapy rather than report writing and triage. It suits a clinician who enjoys the treatment side of the work and wants a high volume of meaningful client contact.

The role is 3 to 5 days per week (0.6 to 1.0 WTE), permanent and salaried, reporting to the Clinical Lead / Senior Occupational Therapist. Salary is benchmarked to the HSE Occupational Therapist pay scale (effective 1 June 2026) with a 5% uplift, and grade (Staff Grade or Senior) depends on experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver individual and group OT interventions to children and adolescents, working from goals set following an OT assessment by another therapist
    • Plan, prepare and run therapy sessions in the Balbriggan clinic, adapting activities to each child's presentation, age and stage
    • Track and record progress against goals, feeding observations back to the assessing or senior therapist
    • Work with parents and carers, coaching them on strategies and home programmes
    • Liaise with the wider team and, where relevant, schools, to keep intervention joined up
    • Maintain clear, timely clinical notes in line with CORU standards
    • Keep therapy equipment and the treatment space safe, clean and ready for use
    • Take part in supervision, team meetings and continuing professional development

    Requirements

    • A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
    • Current CORU registration (or eligibility to register before starting)
    • Experience of, or a clear interest in, working with children and adolescents
    • Confidence delivering therapy from a plan and adapting it session to session
    • Strong communication skills with children, families and colleagues
    • Right to work in Ireland
    • Desirable: paediatric or adolescent post-qualification experience, sensory integration or relevant intervention training, and parent-coaching experience

    Benefits

    • Salary 5% above the equivalent HSE point
    • Flexible 3 to 5 day week to suit the right candidate
    • A treatment-focused caseload with assessment handled by senior colleagues
    • Supervision and CPD support
    • A settled, clinic-based post in Balbriggan with no on-call
