Social Care Leader / Senior Residential Care Worker
About the Role
The Social Care Leader (SCL) or Senior Residential Care Worker (SRCW) works directly with the Centre Management Team to assist in ensuring the day to day management of the residential centre. You will retain an integral practice role and ensure that the highest quality of care is provided to the young people in the centre.
The role encompasses administrative duties alongside responsibilities for the progression and practice of the staff team, and for the implementation of Placement Plan objectives for young people, ensuring they receive the agreed quality and quantity of services.

Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with the Centre Management Team to support the day to day running of the residential centre
- Retain an integral practice role, working directly with young people rather than stepping away from the floor
- Ensure the highest quality of care is provided and that young people receive the agreed quality and quantity of services
- Take responsibility for the progression and practice of the staff team
- Implement Placement Plan objectives for young people and monitor progress against them
- Carry out the administrative duties attaching to the role, including records and reporting
Requirements
- Experience working in children's residential care is essential and non negotiable
- A Bachelor (Ordinary or Honours) degree, MA or MSc in a relevant field, for example QQI Level 8 Psychology, QQI Level 7 Social Science or Social Studies, Youth and Community, Family Support, Disability Studies or Applied Behavioural Analysis
- Professional Practice Qualification in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy, Counselling, Psychotherapy or Addiction Counselling also considered
- Professional Qualification in Teaching (not TEFL) or Nursing Studies, BA in Applied Policing or Higher Certificate in Custodial Care also considered
- Full, clean driver's licence valid in Ireland
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the National Standards for Children's Residential Centres and of Children First
- Ability to work with young people and with challenging behaviour
- A genuine passion for supporting young people who have experienced trauma
