Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor
About the Role
A fast-growing specialist electrical contracting and temporary power business, delivering projects across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. The business works with leading developers to deliver high-quality electrical solutions, with a strong focus on commercial control, compliance, quality and efficient project delivery, and is now expanding its UK operations as part of a wider group growth phase.
This is a key senior appointment. The successful candidate will take ownership of commercial tracking, cost reporting and job performance across the group's projects, overseeing commercial performance on live electrical contracting work, ensuring accurate job tracking, strong cost control, timely valuations, clear reporting and proactive management of variations.
The role suits an experienced electrical Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable working across multiple projects and wants to play a central role in the growth of the commercial team. For the right person, it can develop into a wider commercial leadership position as the group continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial performance across multiple electrical contracting projects
- Oversee job tracking, cost reporting, CVRs and project financial performance
- Prepare, submit and agree interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
- Track labour, materials, subcontractor costs, variations, change events and commercial risk
- Work with project managers, contracts managers and senior leadership to monitor margins and cashflow
- Review and manage subcontractor accounts, payments and commercial queries
- Identify, price and negotiate variations in granular detail
- Support tender reviews, cost planning and project handovers, and mentor junior commercial staff
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within electrical contracting / MEP
- Strong understanding of electrical packages, labour productivity, materials, subcontractor management and cost control
- Experience managing multiple live projects commercially
- Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, final accounts, subcontractor accounts and CVR reporting
- Able to work closely with operational teams while maintaining commercial discipline
- Excellent communication, negotiation and reporting skills
- Strong Excel skills and confidence with job-costing or project reporting systems
