Locum Vet Surgeon - Out of Hours (Midlands)
About the Role
A growing out of hours emergency service covering the Midlands needs locum vet surgeons for night and weekend cover. The role is sole charge triage, stabilisation and emergency surgery, supported by an RVN overnight. This is a higher rate booking for vets confident in emergency and critical care.
The model is candidate led. You share your available nights and weekends, your base location and your rate, and we bring the work to you. We check MRCVS registration before any booking is confirmed.
Key Responsibilities
- Triage, stabilise and treat emergency presentations through the night
- Perform emergency surgery to a high standard with RVN support
- Manage critical care cases and communicate with day practice teams at handover
- Maintain clear, accurate emergency records
- Liaise with owners on prognosis, estimates and consent
Requirements
- Current MRCVS registration, verified before booking
- Confident in sole charge emergency and critical care
- Minimum three years UK experience, emergency or OOH exposure preferred
- Reliable travel to the OOH hub within the agreed radius
- Professional indemnity cover in place
