Country Manager
About the Role
The business is seeking a Germany-based Country Manager / Fachtechnischer Betriebsleiter, Electrical Contracting to lead and scale its German electrical contracting operation. The successful candidate will become the Group's senior in-country representative for German project delivery, client relationships, technical governance, site standards and local team development.
This is a strategically important hire. The role is not a desk-based general management post. It requires an electrical leader with German market credibility, strong practical technical knowledge, and the qualifications or recognised pathway required to support the German entity's Handwerksrolle registration and regulated electrical contracting activities.
The Group is expanding across Germany, with a particular focus on data centre and critical infrastructure work, initially focused on Frankfurt / Hessen. The role reports to the Group CEO and Commercial Director, with potential progression to Country Director / Managing Director Germany as the German operation scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as, or support appointment as, the German entity's fachtechnischer Betriebsleiter and support Handwerksrolle registration
- Liaise with the Handwerkskammer, German professional advisers and distribution network operators
- Lead the German operation on the ground as senior in-person point of contact for clients, contractors, site teams and suppliers
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes and methodology, advising on LV distribution, containment, temporary power, commissioning, testing and handover
- Ensure electrical works are supervised by competent people and completed in line with German standards, including relevant DIN/VDE expectations
- Work with the Commercial Director, Senior QS and project teams to track projects, control variations and prevent margin leakage
- Build a lean but effective German country structure and onboard local subcontractors and suppliers
Requirements
- Senior electrical contracting experience in Germany, ideally in data centres, industrial, commercial, temporary power, critical infrastructure or major MEP environments
- Qualification and professional status capable of supporting German electrical craft-law registration, ideally Elektrotechnikermeister / Meisterbrief or equivalent accepted route
- Experience acting as, or working closely with, a Betriebsleiter, verantwortliche Elektrofachkraft or senior technical manager within a German electrical business
- Strong knowledge of German electrical installation practice, site coordination, quality control, safety and handover requirements
- German fluency and strong English communication skills
- Commercial awareness and willingness to support variation control and weekly project reporting
- Ability to work autonomously and take responsibility quickly in a growing international contractor
