Consultant Psychiatrist - Child & Adolescent ADHD
About the Role
An online psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment and support service provides care to patients and families across the Republic of Ireland. The service is expanding its clinical team and looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist, primarily providing Child and Adolescent ADHD assessments.
This is a Consultant Psychiatrist role delivering high quality online psychiatric assessments and clinical care in accordance with Irish Medical Council guidance, relevant clinical guidelines and the service's policies and procedures. The role primarily involves conducting Child and Adolescent ADHD assessments, making appropriate psychiatric diagnoses and preparing comprehensive clinical reports. Medication initiation and medication review services may also form part of the role by mutual agreement.
Working days and availability are agreed between the clinician and the service. Administrative support is provided, including assistance with report formatting and patient documentation, and training is given on the clinical systems and clinical expectations. This is an independent contractor engagement, fully remote, with one day per month in person in Dublin for a medication initiation and review clinic.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Child and Adolescent ADHD assessments via online consultation
- Undertake psychiatric consultations and provide appropriate diagnoses
- Prepare clear, accurate and sufficiently detailed clinical reports following assessments
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records using the service's clinical systems
- Complete clinical notes within required timescales
- Work in accordance with relevant IMC, NICE and SIGN guidance and professional standards
- Identify and appropriately manage clinical and safeguarding risks
- Liaise with the clinical and administrative teams where required
- Cooperate with the management team in responding to patient feedback or complaints
- Recommend appropriate additional support services where clinically indicated
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements
- Attend scheduled appointments punctually and provide appropriate notice of planned unavailability
Requirements
- Appropriately qualified Consultant Psychiatrist
- Current Irish Medical Council registration and a licence to practise
- Appropriate experience and competence in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and ADHD assessment
- Appropriate professional indemnity and insurance cover
- Required safeguarding and background check documentation
- Maintains appropriate professional appraisal and regulatory requirements
- Confident providing psychiatric care through an online and remote clinical service
- Excellent written communication and clinical report writing skills
- Comfortable using online clinical systems and video consultation platforms
- Available one day per month to provide an in person medication initiation and review clinic in Dublin
